Several towns in the area are worth a visit and are an excellent destination. Nearest Cannes is famous for its film festival. Every year the most famous movie stars comptete for the prestigious Palme d’Or. But Cannes has more to offer: a beautiful promenade along the sea (La Croisette), nice hotel beaches, many luxury shops, the day trips to the Lérins islands and the chraming old town on the Suquet hill.
Less jet set but much more authentic, the old town of Nice will seduce you. Let yourself get lost in its streets, admire its palaces and do not miss the Provencal market, certainly a bit touristy but so full of flavors. And go up to the Citadel to admire the view over the city and the sea. Nice also has over fifteen museums. there necessarily will be one that will interest you.
Roman ruins lovers will go to Frejus. The old forum Julii founded by Julius Caesar himself in 49 BC, was one of the major cities in the region until the nineteenth century. It preserves many Roman remains including an amphitheater, an aqueduct and a theater. Go to Frejus is also an opportunity to travel the magnificent cornice of Esterel.
At 500 m altitude, on the foothills of the Alps, Grasse, the world perfume capital is a charming old town typical of Provence. You will visit the perfume factories, the Museum of Provence and the cathedral and will enjoy breathtaking views on the entire area and to the sea.
